The obverse of the coin bears the sign of Lithuanian Jews (Litvaks) – the community identity symbol representing the identification of Lithuanian Jews, as citizens, with the State of Lithuania since the reign of Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania; above it – the denomination (€10), below – the inscription LIETUVA (LITHUANIA), the year of issue (2020), the mark of the creative team of the graphic project and the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint. The main design of the coin is surrounded by the inscription “The Year of the Vilna Gaon and the History of the Jews of Lithuania” in the Lithuanian and Hebrew languages as well as the number 5780 which stands for the year 2020 in the Jewish calendar.

The reverse of the coin bears two signs: ש – the Hebrew crown-shaped letter Shin which in gematria represents the number 300, and גר"א – an acronym for “Ha Gaon Rabbi Elyahu”, meaning “Gaon (Genius) Rabbi Elijah”. A pad-printing technology was used to highlight the abbreviation of his name and the letter Shin – commemoration of his 300th birth anniversary. The bottom of the coin features a symbolic Torah scroll with the engraved number 300. The reverse also bears the inscriptions “the Vilna Gaon” and “Rabbi Elijah ben Solomon Zalman” in the Lithuanian and Hebrew languages.

This Lithuania coin is dedicated to the 300th birth anniversary of the Vilna Gaon (Elijah ben Solomon Zalman). Obverse: The obverse of the coin features the sign of the Jewish Litvaks, who are a  strong symbol of their community’s identity, signifying the identification of Lithuanian Jews as citizens with the Lithuanian state, since the time of Gediminas the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Denomination "10€" is at the top of the coin, the name of the country at the bottom and the year of minting – 2020. The legend "VILNIAUS GAONO IR LIETUVOS ŽYDŲ ISTORIJOS METAI" (eng. The year of Vilnius Gaon and Lithuanian Jewish history”) and the number "5780", which corresponds to the year 2020 according to the Jewish calendar, engraved on the edges of the coin in Lithuanian and Hebrew languages. Reverse: The crown-like letter "SYN," in Hebrew, meaning "300," is a Hebrew abbreviation translated as "GAON (Genius) by Rabbi Elijah." The respect shown to the Vilnius Gaon is further strengthened by tampographic printing to highlight the short commemoration of his name and the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of "ŠYN" (crown). The number "300" is engraved on the bottom of the coin as if on a Torah scroll. The coin is surrounded by the legend "VILNIAUS GAONAS RABINAS ELIJAS BEN SALIAMONAS ZALMANAS" (eng. Vilnius Gaon Rabin Elijas ben Saliamon Zalman" minted in Lithuanian and Hebrew languages.

Edge lettering: The word "JEIGU NORĖSI, IR TU TAPSI GENIJUM" (eng. If you want, you can become a genius" is minted in Lithuanian and Yiddish languages on the edge of the coin.
