Piero della Francesca was one of the greatest Renaissance painters strongly linked to the Urbino court.
Gifted with a brilliant personality, the artist dedicated a treatise to perspective and acted as a link between the artistic tradition of central Italy and the realistic Flemish influence with the result of meticulous reproduction of faces and landscapes.
The ceremonial portrait of the patron leader is taken from the famous work "Diptych of the Dukes of Urbino", painted in oil on wood and preserved in the Uffizi Galleries in Florence.
