Slovakia 2026 Trencin European capital of culture

The obverse of the coin features a composition rich in cultural symbols. In the center, the word “TRENCÍN” is inscribed in capital letters. It clearly identifies the honored city. In addition, the year “2026” appears just above, highlighting the year of the cultural distinction. In the background, several stylized architectural elements evoke Trenčín Castle. This highlights the city’s iconic landmark.

Around the center, various cultural pictograms form a symbolic mosaic. A paint palette, a Super 8 film, a theater mask, and a musical note are visible. These elements represent different forms of artistic expression. They therefore illustrate the diversity of the European cultural program. At the top of the gold section, the name of the issuing country, “SLOVENSKO,” is clearly visible. This confirms the coin’s national origin.

The lower gold rim bears the inscription “EURÓPSKE HLAVNÉ MESTO KULTÚRY.” This means “European Capital of Culture” in English. This official designation also reinforces the coin’s solemn character.
