Lithuania 2015 ACIU (Language)
ACIU
Lithuanian is an Eastern Baltic language belonging to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. It is the official language of Lithuania and one of the official languages of the European Union.
Among Indo-European languages, Lithuanian is conservative in some aspects of its grammar and
phonology, retaining archaic features otherwise found only in ancient languages
such as Sanskrit (particularly
its early form, Vedic Sanskrit) or Ancient Greek.
On the national side of the
coin, one of the most beautiful Lithuanian words - AČIŪ (THANK YOU) is inscribed against a background of letters of the Lithuanian
font, created on the basis of the Latin alphabet; the inscription LIETUVA
(LITHUANIA) and the year of issue 2015 are placed at the bottom of the word.
The Lithuanian Mint mark is also impressed. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12
stars of the European flag.
