Luxembourg 2023 International Olympic committee

This €2 coin commemorates the 25th anniversary of the accession of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg to the International Olympic Committee. The coin commemorates an important event in the history of sport, as Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in the world, yet it is represented at the Olympic Games.
The coin depicts Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg in the center of the obverse. The portrait of the Duke is flanked by several icons of Olympic sports. On the right-hand side, the text 'MEMBER VUM INTERNATIONALEN OLYMPESCHE KOMMITEE' and the name of the country 'LËTZEBUER' are embossed. The outer part of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the flag of the European Union.
