The design features the right profile of a portrait of Padre Pio.
At the top, from left to right, in semi-circle is the inscription of the
issuing country ‘CITTÀ DEL VATICANO’. At the bottom is the inscription ‘Padre
Pio’ and at its right the mint mark ‘R’. At the left hand of the design is the
year ‘1968’ and at the right is the year of issuance ‘2018’. At the bottom left
is the name of the artist ‘P.DANIELE’. The coin’s outer ring bears the 12 stars
of the European Union.
