On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the Italian painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (short: Caravaggio), San Marino has issued this 2 Euro commemorative coin in uncirculated quality. Caravaggio lived from 1571 to 1610 and is known as an important painter of the early Baroque. The motive of the coin shows one of his works, the Maddalena penitente (Engl. repentant Magdalena), which was created around 1597. The commemorative coin is delivered in an illustrated blistercard.
