250th anniversary of the foundation of the Guardia di Finanza Corps.

The Guardia di Finanza is an Italian police force created in the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1774 to combat smuggling and tax fraud. Initially it was known as "Corpo delle Dogane" but in 1862, after the unification of Italy, it was renamed "Guardia di Finanza".
During World War II, the Guardia di Finanza was engaged in the fight against smuggling and foreign currency trafficking. After the war, the body focused on fighting economic and financial crime, including corruption, counterfeiting and money laundering.
Today the body carries out a wide range of activities, including combating tax evasion, protecting national borders, maritime safety and consumer protection.
