Luxembourg 2025 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration

The obverse of the coin features a design that is both symbolic and rich in detail. First, the number “75” takes centre stage to commemorate this important anniversary. Just above it, the inscription “SCHUMAN DECLARATION 09.05.1950” recalls the date of this historic announcement.

Then, in the centre of the room, a hand extends an olive branch, a universal symbol of peace and reconciliation. This branch illustrates the pacifist and unifying message carried by the Schuman Declaration. In the background, curved lines evoke the interconnection between European nations and solidarity.

Furthermore, on the right of the coin, the name “LUXEMBOURG” is inscribed vertically. This inscription is followed by the year of issue “2025”, marking the temporal context of this commemorative issue. At the bottom left, the monogram of Grand Duke Henri, represented by a crown above the letter “H”, recalls the Luxembourg monarchy. This also underlines the country’s role in defending European values.

Finally, the coin’s rim is decorated with the twelve stars of the European Union. These stars symbolise unity and solidarity between the Member States. The design, simple and refined, skillfully combines historical elements and powerful symbols.
