The coins depict the
Castle of Vartburg, which is the most well-known brick castle of the noble
Ludovinger dynasty, and it is one of the best preserved medieval castles in
Germany. On the left side of the coin is the year of issuance '2022', at the
bottom is the name of the German länder 'THÜRINGEN' and the mintmark. On the
other side, the usual reverse of the 2-euro coin.
