France 2021 75 years of Unicef
75 years of Unicef
The fund was established
on 11 December 1946, initially to provide food and health care for children and
mothers in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1950
UNICEF expanded its activities and since then provides humanitarian and
development aid to children worldwide.
The coin depicts the globe in the form of a puzzle, held in children's hands. Interestingly, the individual pieces of the puzzle are also connected to each other by hand-shaped tabs. Below the globe, from the left, you will find an olive branch, the inscription in French: 75 ANS (75 Years) and a country code (RF). Along the upper edge of the coin two inscriptions are stamped.
The first inscription is ‘UNICEF 1946 – 2021’ where the dates correspond to the establishment of the fund and the year the coin was minted. The second inscription: ‘POUR CHAQUE ENFANT’, which in French means: FOR EVERY CHILD.
