France 2018 Cornflower
Cornflower
For 100 years, the cornflower represents the memory and
solidarity of France. It emerged as a sign of the will to support veterans
returning from the First World War of 1914-1918. This small flower quickly
became the symbol of the entire French nation, recognizing the sacrifice of its
soldiers in the struggle for their land and their ideals. Nowadays, the Bleuet
de France takes its traditional mission of providing moral and financial
support to the veterans and war victims of the past and present as well as the
victims of terrorism into account Tolerance for young people in remembrance of
those who fought and are still fighting for our freedom.
The cornflower is in the center of the coin. It is
surrounded by the words "Le Bleuet de France, fleur de memoire et de
