The Tasmanian Devil coin is the third issue in the Endangered and Extinct series depicting creatures that are either extinct or on the brink of disappearing. Issued with the mintage quantity of 5 000 pieces, the silver coin comes housed in a high gloss wooden case with a numbered certificate of authenticity also included.

The obverse of the Tuvalu coin represents the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Along the rim of the coin, there are the inscriptions indicating the Queen’s name, the standard of coinage, the issuing year, the name of the issuing country and the face value of the coin.

The reverse design features the colored image of the Tasmanian Devil against the background of fern leaves and a rocky den. Considered the world's largest surviving carnivorous marsupial, the Tasmanian Devil, is only found on the Australian island of Tasmania and is easy recognized by its black fur, strong odor and ferocious fighting ability. At one time, the creature likely numbered in the millions but it has already suffered declines in wild population not exceeding 100,000.
