The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, and commonly known as Paris 2024, is an international multi-sport event that is scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, France.
Having previously played host in 1900 and 1924, Paris will become the second city to host the Olympics three times, after London (1908, 1948 and 2012). 2024 will mark the centenary of the Paris Games of 1924 and the sixth Olympic Games hosted by France (three in summer and three in winter).
The 2024 Summer Olympics, which will take place in Paris, is an opportunity for the Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition with a series dedicated to sport, its values, athletes, and the heritage of the host country.
2023 is the third year of a quadrilogy in which sport and its values are celebrated through the Monnaie de Paris coin and medallion collections. After Marianne (2021), the 2022 coin features a Genie throwing a discus overlooking the track and field stadium and third is boxing. The Arc de Triomphe, symbolizing the city of Paris, is also depicted in the background.
