Germany 2022 10 euro In the service of society - Care (any random Mint)
The coin is the first in a five-part series, “In the service of society”, which will see one coin issued every year over the period 2022-26. The series brings into focus the particular significance of groups of professions that are essential to the functioning of our society and the lives of every one of us. It is an expression of respect and appreciation for these people who invariably act in the interests of the common good. The coins in the series will feature a polymer ring in a colour that is characteristic for the respective occupational group.
The €10 coin “Care” consists of two different cupronickel alloys and a mint-turquoise polymer ring. It weighs 9.8 g, has a diameter of 28.75 mm and will be manufactured both in mint condition and with a proof-like finish. The mint condition coins will be brought into circulation at their face value (€10). The issue price of the collector quality coins with a proof-like finish will be higher than their face value. Münze Deutschland (Germany’s official sales agency for collector coins) will announce the exact price and the specific ordering conditions in good time prior to the issue date.
The coin was designed by Berlin-based artist Peter Lasch (picture side) and Patrick Niesel of Röthenbach an der Pegnitz (reverse).
On the picture side, the motif in the centre – the vulnerable hand taken in both hands – symbolises trust. Moreover, the design shows the complex areas of responsibility in care today. The people at the edge of the coin illustrate that anyone in any generation can require care. The word “PFLEGE” (CARE) underscores as a basis the successful overall design.
The reverse, which will be used for all coins in the series, features an eagle framed by the words “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND”, the value and denomination, the year 2022, the twelve stars of Europe and the mint mark “A” (Berlin), “D” (Munich), “F” (Stuttgart), “G” (Karlsruhe) or “J” (Hamburg), depending on where the coin was minted.
Its smooth edge is embossed with the inscription: “IM DIENST DER GESELLSCHAFT” (IN THE SERVICE OF SOCIETY)
